Appeal to STOP Chemical Warfare Against Amharas

Appeal to STOP Chemical Warfare Against Amharas

                                                         to

Heads of State, The United Nations,

The Permanent Members of the United Nations,

                                        The African Union,

                                       The European Union,

                                        All-Peace-Loving People of this World

The Amhara Professionals Union (APU) has received credible evidence from multiple sources about shipments of chemical warfare agents from Saudi Arabia to Dire Dawa city, Ethiopia, in numerous rounds of Antonov aircraft flights. Eyewitnesses with detailed evidence indicate the transfer of some of these chemical agents via military helicopters to Bahir Dar city, the capital of the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Additionally, several C17 Globemaster McDonnell Douglas flights from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have delivered military supplies to Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa city, the federal capital of Ethiopia.

In May of 2023, our association accurately projected the trajectory of the current state-sponsored terrorism against the Amhara population when it raised a “State of Alert” to all Amharas to defend the Universal Declaration of their right to exist. Within days of this alert, the regime initiated the official war on the Amhara people under the disguise of a disarmament campaign.

APU is once again obliged to call on the world for immediate intervention on behalf of the Amhara people of Ethiopia to stop Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali from his illegal use of missiles, drones, heavy weaponry, and now chemical weapons against citizens in violation of international treaties and charters which are listed below as binding to all UN member nations,

        1. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)

        2. International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR)

        3. Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)

        4. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD)

        5. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)

        6. Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT)

These and many other treaties enshrined within member states of the United Nations have been grossly and repeatedly violated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his cohorts, resulting in untold human suffering on our people.

The final act of supplying and using chemical agents violates yet another significant treaty, The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) of January 13, 1993, which prohibits the use of chemical weapons.

This evil act must be immediately condemned and be stopped without any conditions by all nations, religious and civil organizations, academic institutions, and businesses, and the perpetrators must be held fully accountable before the world.

The APU urges all the above-listed entities to pressure Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to immediately cease these illegal acts and international crimes.

APU firmly believes the Amhara people, along with their Ethiopian and international brother and sister nations, will once again rise to the occasion and restore justice, peace, and equality among all ethnic groups that have been deprived of these inalienable rights for the last fifty years in Ethiopia.

APU also believes the current Amhara struggle for self-preservation was born out of preserving the Amhara people’s right to exist in their place of birth and land where they lived for thousands of years in harmony with fellow Ethiopians and neighboring states.

Truth and justice shall prevail!
